Not Rayellen's Favorite!
So the big stop of Day 2 was Kinzua Skywalk.
The building pays homage to the viaduct.
It was covered in snow!
Finally getting to the end:
And then I cleared off the snow -- or at least enough of it to get a really cool view. (NOT Rayellen's favorite place to visit. It's okay -- there'll be someplace fun for her!)
Standing on the glass. How cool! (Don't worry, Raya! There's comfy benches for you while the non-acrophobics go out and taunt gravity)
Close your eyes, Raya -- Granny is about to peek over the edge!
Check out the debris field. That tornado did a number on the bridge.
And straight down into the debris field:
Turning around to go back, let's get a better look at that glass floor:
Selfie at the top:
Peering down between the railroad ties:
I even walked on the ties for a while, but decided not to overdo it lest I slip in the snow and hurt myself.
Looking down between the ties:
Look at how cool the snow looks on the wood grain:
Critter tracks on the snow:
Definitely a deer print:
A warning about the trail I'm about to take:
At first the trail's not bad at all:
Cool erosion control:
The view from the bottom:
And let's just pan along that tower:
There was a piece of random stuff just sitting upwind from the rest of the ruin. I'm not sure what it was, but it looked pretty gnarly just sitting there in the woods:
Looking at the other end from below:
The approach to the debris field:
Views of each end of the viaduct from the debris field:
Check out those anchor posts.
Look at how twisted the supports are.
Here's a view of that pretty little bridge I saw from the skyway:
After all the snow melted that path in the valley was pretty muddy!
A majestic look at the skyway and bridge:
This captures the peacefulness at the creek:
And coming up the trail, just the sounds of the forest and my footsteps:
And let's close out with the work of a random woodpecker:
